Description of MathGo |
MathGo software aims to offer simple acces to practice and exercises in the multiplicationtables and mental arithmetic in general.
MathGo offers some impressive features :
Simple, user-friendly, and entertaining with a neat presentation.
Automatic question generator, very largely parametrable : choice of multiplication table to be repeated, operations to be practiced, reservation of numbers, time allowed.
If the wrong answer is given, the correct answer is displayed, then the question is repeated later.
Contest mode, with the 10 best results and bonus recorded, to stimulate the pupil in his or her progress.
Who can benefit from this software ?
MathGo is for all pupils who strarting to learn multiplication tables and the four operations (addition, substraction, multiplication and division
Registration
The prices for the various licences are indicated in the " Read Me" file, located in the same folder as MathGo. This document also gives instructions on how to make payment. After payment, you will receive a code giving access to all the MathGo functions.
Use
Drill Mode
Multiplication Tables
In this mode, the pupil determines:
The table to be trained (between 2 and 12)
the operation: multiplication, division or both
whether a multiple of 10 is included in the questions, like 120 : 30 or 80 x200
time available : between 5 sec and infinity
The program generates 20 questions automatically.
Mental calculation
In the Calculation mode, the pupil determines:
the operation or operations to be performed: addition, subtraction, multiplication and/or division
the numbers which will determine the degree of difficulty of the question:
integers from 1 to 50
integers from 1 to 200
decimal numbers from 1 to 100
relative numbers from -50 to 50
decimal numbers from 100 to 100
time available : between 5 sec and infinity
the presence of question like 39 -
= 12 ("missing number")
Numeration
In this mode, several exercises are offered:
Point - >Code
MathGo indicates a number on a graduated line, and the user gives the decimal code of the number.
Code - > Point
The opposite operation to the preceding one; MathGo writes the decimal code, and the user clicks the corresponding place on the graduated line.
Inequalities
The user compares two numbers or mathematical expressions using the <, > or = symbols.
Series
The user has to supplement arithmetic series of numbers by entering the number replacing the "? " sign.
In each one of these exercises, the numbers can be selected from the following sets:
- integers from 1 to 100
decimal numbers with the tenth
decimal numbers with the hundredth
relative numbers from -100 to 100
rational numbers
Estimate
The software proposes two type of questions: on the magnitude of the estimate, and the other on the value of the estimate.
Magnitude : MathGo proposes 3 multiple choice answers, of different magnitude. The user clicks on the one considered correct.
Value : The user answers by simply estimating the result. MathGo indicates how accurate the estimation is.
The number sets selectable are the same as for numeration.
| Play Mode Contest In the Contest mode, the program generates increasingly difficult questions. On each wrong answer a bonus point is deducted, and 15 consecutive right answers wins an added bonus point. The contest stops when there is no more bonus points left. When the first level has been completed, the program continues the contest with a shorter time allowed. Snake This gane allows practice with 10's, 100's and 1000's complement. The questions start with the 10's complements : the player must key in the complement to the number appearing on the screen. Only the last number can be erased by entering its 10's complement. If this is not done in the allowed time, a new number is added, and the length of the snake formed by the questions increases. The RETURN key is not necessary to validate the answers. In the second stage, the questions include two digits: i.e. the 100's complement that must be entered to prevent the snake from growing too quickly. And finally, in the third stage, the 1000's complements, with increasingly shorter times allowed ! examples: the program displays: 178: key 2 must be pressed to erase the last number (because 10 - 2 = 8) the program displays: 65' 37: 63 must be entered to erase the last number (because 100 - 37 = 63) the program displays: 421' 865: 135 must be entered to erase the last number (because 1000 - 865 = 135) Balance The user compares two numbers or mathematical expressions using the <, > or = symbols. The program generates increasingly difficult questions. On each wrong answer a bosnus point is deducted. The contest stops when there ara no more bonus points left. Train This game proposes series of numbers (= trains) to be supplemented. In each series one or more numbers are missing. The correct answer is the number that should replace the "? ". The program generates increasingly difficult questions. On each wrong answer a bosnus point is deducted. The contest stops when there ara no more bonus points left. Score The first 10 results of each game are memorized in the MathGo.score file. The results are erased by simply deleting this file. |
